Fast Fixes For Your Apple and Mac
Apple Macbook or IMac turns on but there is no display
Your Macbook or iMac turns on, you can hear the startup chime but there is no display, this is a common issue we deal with on a regular basis and we can help. The screen is either faulty and will need to be replaced, screen connector cable (very rare) or the video card chipset on the motherboard is faulty and needs to be replaced.
A Quick way to isolate problem is to connect an HDMI cable to a monitor or your TV, if your Mac screen display is visible on the external screen then the screen is either faulty or the video connector cable has an issue, if there is still no display then we are looking at a motherboard issue with the Graphics card. Call AKLWide for help with these issues on 0800 020 000.
Macbook Screen is Flickering or lines appear intermittently
The backlight controller which effectively acts like a fluorescent bulb behind the screen to illuminate your display needs to be replaced or the Video Card on the motherboard needs to be replaced. Quick test – try shining a torch through the Apple logo on the top cover and see if you can see your icons. If you can, then we can easily help you to replace the back light.
Macbook or iMac Hard Drive issues. Folder with Flashing Question Mark?
Sometimes a quick reset can resolve a startup issue however, if your Mac is stalling on the progress bar or you receive a grey screen with folder and a flashing question mark. Your connection cable from the hard drive to the system board is possibly faulty and not detecting the hard drive, a replacement cable should resolve this issue with no data loss. Otherwise the internal hard drive is starting to fail or has failed completely.
The hard drive can be replaced and the OS.X (Apple operating system) reinstalled and we can have you up and running relatively quickly. Whether the data on the faulty drive can be retrieved will depend on the condition. Please note if you suspect there is a fault with the drive, refrain from continually turning the device on and off as this could be the key factor to successfully getting your data back.
Putting added pressure on a problematic drive may cause it fail completely thus reducing your chances of a successful recovery.
My Macbook or iMac has no power
Check your adapter is not faulty, borrow a friend’s adapter or try your adapter on another device, otherwise we will be looking to carry out a motherboard repair, namely the power controller chipset which regulates power throughout the system and fires everything up when you push the power button.
